Sr. Veronica Fuhrmann, CJ is from Mainz, a city in the heart of Germany on the River Rhine. She studied German and French language and literature, along with theology, in Mainz and Lyon, France. Several years later, she trained as an assistant nurse, equipping her to serve more deeply in the care of elderly sisters.

With professional roots in education, Sr. Veronica has also been involved in nursing and refugee ministry. Throughout her years of service, she has been especially committed to empowering children and young people through education and capacity building, extending her outreach well beyond the classroom whenever possible. An equally important dimension of her mission has been the holistic care of elderly and infirm sisters within the congregation.

She has served in a number of leadership roles within her congregation: as General Secretary in Rome from 1993 to 2000; as a member of the Province Leadership Team in Germany from 2020 to 2022; and, since the end of 2022, as General Superior in Rome. In recent years, she has played a central role in accompanying the merger process of the IBVM and CJ congregations—a journey initiated by earlier leadership teams and brought to implementation in November 2025.
