About Sr. Melanie Paradis, OSF (click to expand)
Sr. Melanie Paradis, OSF is an American of French-Canadian descent and the oldest of five children. She entered the St. Clare Region of the Wheaton Franciscans, making her First Profession in 1986 and Final Profession in 1990. Guided by the words “In God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26) and Emily Dickinson’s line “I dwell in possibility,” Melanie brings a spirit of hope and creativity to her ministry.
She holds a BA in French and an MA in Education and currently serves as Formation Directress, accompanying new members of the community. Her previous ministries include teaching middle school, serving as Vocation and Formation Directress, Spiritual Director, Provincial Councilor, Provincial Directress, and Regional Directress.
Drawn to the Wheaton Franciscans by their Franciscan joy and hospitality, Melanie felt called to a community where prayer and service could flourish alongside other like-hearted women. In her free time she enjoys reading, music, hiking—especially near the Atlantic coast—and visiting family on the East Coast.
